Title Transfer Services


Pennsylvania Title

**Both the seller(s) and buyer(s)  should be present. please call for additional info if buyer cannot appear in person**

What is required from the seller:

  • Current photo ID
  • Original Pennsylvania title
  • Exact vehicle odometer reading

What is required from the buyer:

  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license or ID
  • Current proof of PA insurance in the buyer’s name, such as:
    • Insurance ID card
    • Insurance Declarations
    • VIN specific binder
  • Plate number for any plate being transferred

**For business vehicles, please call for more information.

What we provide to you:

  • Transfer of the title from the seller’s name into the buyer’s name
  • New title will be mailed directly to the buyer from PennDOT

**License plates can only be transferred between spouses, a parent and child, or self.  The plate owner must be present with a current Driver’s License or ID.


Out of State Title

What is required:

  • Out-of-state title signed by seller (may require notarization when signed)
  • Current PA Driver’s License, PA ID, or Military ID
  • Current proof of PA insurance in the buyer’s name, such as:
    • Insurance ID card
    • Insurance Declarations
    • VIN specific binder
  • License plate number if a plate is being transferred by the buyer to the new vehicle
  • Bill of Sales showing purchase price (if purchased from a dealership)

Note:

  • The VIN number must be verified on any vehicle brought into PA.
    • The VIN must be verified by one of the following methods:
      • bringing the vehicle to our office
      • providing a pencil tracing of the VIN (if a rubbing is unattainable, a photo may be accepted, or
      • providing Form MV-41 completed by a PA inspection mechanic.
  • Unladen and gross weight of trucks, trailers, and mobile homes must also be verified.  Unladen and gross weights may be listed on the title.  If unlisted on the title, GVWR may be listed on the door/sticker panel of the vehicle.  For the unladen weight, the vehicle must also be weighed.

  • Instant transfer of the title from the seller’s name into the buyer’s name

In-transit Plate

**Both the seller and buyer should be present.

What is required from the seller:

  • Valid ID
  • Vehicle title
  • Exact vehicle odometer reading

What is required from the buyer:

  • Valid out-of-state driver’s license OR
  • Valid out-of-state ID card
  • Current proof of PA insurance in the buyer’s name, such as:
    • Insurance ID card
    • Declarations page
    • VIN specific binder

What we provide to you:

  • 30-day in-transit plate available On the Spot

New Pennsylvania Resident

What is required:

  • Out-of-state vehicle title*
  • Current PA Driver’s License, PA ID or Military ID
  • Proof of current PA insurance in the owner’s name, such as:
    • Insurance ID card
    • Insurance Declarations
    • VIN specific binder

*If financing the vehicle, a title request will need to be placed in advance. please call for more information

Note:

  • The VIN number must be verified on any vehicle brought into PA.  The VIN may be verified by bringing the vehicle to our office, providing a pencil tracing, or providing Form MV-41 completed by a PA inspection mechanic.
  • Unladen and gross weight of trucks, trailers, and mobile homes must also be verified.  Unladen and gross weights may be listed on the title.  If unlisted on the title, GVWR may be listed on the door/sticker panel of the vehicle.  For the unladen weight, the vehicle must also be weighed.

What we provide to you:

  • Instant title transfer and creation of a PA record
  • Registration card, plate, and sticker (if vehicle is registered at this time)
  • Title, via mail, in approximately 7-10 business days (if no lienholder is involved in the transaction)

*The vehicle will require a PA inspection within 10 days.
